The 32-year-old winger was coming off long term injured reserve with the Bruins and the team needed to get under the salary cap by dealing someone. Turns out Sturm was the guy, going to L.A. for a conditional draft pick.
Sturm is a seven-time 20-goal scorer -- yes, I was surprised when I looked that up too -- and he'll add to the struggling Kings offense. L.A. has lost four straight.
With this move and the move last week sending defenseman Matt Hunwick to the Avalanche for prospect Colby Cohen, the Bruins are back under the cap and still relatively intact.
Seems win-win for the two sides.
