Martin Biron gets the start less than 24 hours after the Islanders 3-2 win over the Rangers.
Not only would a third consecutive win be big for the Islanders right now, but a win would be huge for Biron.
Biron, despite playing pretty well, has been saddled with some of the absolute worst performances in front of him and has not won a game since November 13 against Carolina.
After his last loss, Dec 19 against Montreal, Matt Moulson called the team's lack of support for Biron "embarrassing."
Bur Biron--one of the most affable and gregarious guys in the league, not to mention one of the most well-liked in the Islanders room--has done his best to stay upbeat and has characterized his misfortune as "simply the luck of the draw."
No doubt it's hanging over him, though.
"It puts a certain hunger in determination in you to get a win," Biron said. "You don't want to go in and say it's a win or nothing, but it really does have to be one of your top priorities."
A pipe burst in the Islanders workout room last night, but a crisis was averted when some of the equipment was removed, the damage was repaired and the Islanders were allowed to procede with their normal pre-game workout routine as normal.
This is not, however, the first time this has happened. I guess that only adds one more reason the Islanders desperately need a new facility....
