For those immersed in the microscopic study and analysis of Islanders’ policy, forward Blake Comeau — after being scratched from Saturday’s game against the Rangers in favor of Trevor Gillies — skated Monday on a line with Josh Bailey and Brian Rolston. And, to further read the tea leaves, Comeau was back on the left wing, with Rolston on the right, as opposed to their recent positioning.
That’s all there is to know, though. Coach Jack Capuano said he was “going to keep it between the player and myself” why Comeau, who has enjoyed notable success against the Rangers in the past, did not suit up.
“As we go on, there’s going to be decisions we make on the lineup and they’re going to be coaches’ decisions,” Capuano said. “I’m not going to single out guys or talk about performance or why we do things. I’d rather keep that in-house.”
Regarding Comeau and Rolston switching sides, Capuano said, “Him and Rolston, I know they talk quite a bit about switching right to left. So, as we move along, if they feel comfortable that way, then, so do I.”
