The last time Micheal Haley saw ice time for the Islanders was last April. In an effort to add some "grit" to the roster, Islanders coach Jack Capuano called up the 25-year-old from Bridgeport on Tuesday.
In an effort to add some “grit” to the roster, the 25-year-old was called up form Bridgeport on Tuesday. Haley replaced Mark Eaton (MCL), who was placed on IR yesterday. That move was retroactive to Nov. 21.
“Michael’s one of those guys [whose] personality dictates how he plays,” said Islanders coach Jack Capuano. I’ve had him for a while and he had a short stint last year. He can play the game, he’s got some skill and at the same time he gives us an element of grit.”
After what Haley described as a “rough start” in Bridgeport, he’s ready to hit the ground running.
Said Haley: “I want to change something, to bring something. And we just want to win. That’s the number one goal.”
Can Haley bring what the Islanders need?
“I like to bring energy and physicality…I like to play hockey and play the way I play,” he said.”
Notes: Rick DiPietro and Anders Nilsson are the goaltenders. Marty Reasoner (healthy), Brian Rolston and Nino Niederreiter are scratches.
