This is not a here we go again, though it might sound that way.
Rick DiPietro may start Wednesday’s game in Washington. "I have to talk to them first," coach Scott Gordon said, referring to DP and second-string (at this moment) Dwayne Roloson.
DiPietro is not thought to be hurting, but Gordon is keeping his options open. DiPietro has a 3.8 goals against average in the first two games.
"He's made some big saves, obviously," Gordon said of DiPietro. "I think we have to try and get him into more situations in practice where there’s a little more traffic in front of him to fight through the screens. Considering where he was last year [not even practicing with the team at this point], I’m very happy that he's been able to come in and play, get three out of four points and allow us to be in a situation where we are going on to the road with some confidence.’’
Safe bet would have DiPietro playing in Washington, then splitting back-to-back games with Roloson taking the start Friday in Pittsburgh or Saturday at home against Colorado.
