Injured goaltender Rick DiPietro will fly back to New York Friday for a medical evaluation on a groin strain suffered during Monday's 5-2 win over Calgary.

After two days of rest, DiPietro skated Thursday but did not dress for the game Thursday night, a 2-1 loss to Edmonton.

Bridgeport call-ups Nathan Lawson and Kevin Poulin both saw action Thursday night when the latter relieved Lawson after he gave up two goals in the first 5:17 of play.

This latest development, just another setback in DiPietro's well-documented injury history, comes just a day after head coach Jack Capuano said DiPietro was "feeling much better."

It appears Lawson and Poulin will now comprise the team's goaltending duo for the foreseeable future.
