The Islanders are heading to Connecticut — for a preseason game, anyway.
The Isles will host the defending Presidents’ Trophy winner Washington Capitals in a preseason game on Monday, Oct. 1 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the team announced Thursday. The Islanders’ AHL affiliate, the Sound Tigers, are based in Bridgeport and play their home games in that arena.
The Islanders’ preseason begins at Barclays Center on Monday, Sept. 26 against the Flyers. They play the Rangers at Madison Square Garden the next day as part of a split-squad game, then host the Blueshirts on Oct. 4 at Barclays. It is the first time the Isles and Rangers have faced each other in the preseason since 2007.
