The Islanders suffer their first road loss, 2-1 to the Capitals at the Verizon Center.

Alex Ovechkin's one-timer bounces off Nicklas Backstrom's skate for the game-winning goal and hands the Islanders their first regulation loss of the season.
UPDATE: Isles and Caps tied at 1 after two periods
Despite another good period from Roloson and two successful penalty-killing efforts, the Islanders surrender the game-tying goal late in the second.
Scoring his fourth goal of the season, offensive dynamo Alexander Ovechkin beat Roloson from the left circle at 18:19 for the equalizer.
UPDATE: Isles lead 1-0 after first period
Rookie Nino Niederreiter goes five-hole on Michal Neuvirth for his first goal as an Islanders. Captain Doug Weight picks up his third assist in three games on the play, giving the Islanders a 1-0 lead at 3:14.
Caps now 13-for-13 on PK.
Washington only had five shots on goal, but Roloson looked pretty sharp for his first start.
