The Islanders' will host the Dallas Stars Saturday October 9 for the 2010-11 season's home opener. The rest of the team's regular season schedule will be released at noon tomorrow.
The team did, however, release their pre-season schedule today, featuring five games in five different locations (Saskatoon, SK, Quebec City, Philadelphia, NJ, and NVMC).
The Isles will kick off their pre-seasonwith a pair of split-squad games on Wednesday September 29. Half the team will play Calgary at the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon, SK (where training camp was held last September) and the other half will face Philly at the Wachovia Center; both games are at 7 p.m. locally.
On Friday Oct 1 they'll make the short commute to the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ to play the Devils. The following night will feature another split-squad pair, with one team completing the home-and-home with NJ at NVMC and the other half traveling to Quebec City for a match against Montreal.
With four of their five pre-season games being played in two days, it is an unorthodox schedule to say the least. Because of the relatively late start (September 29 for their first pre-season game) I'm also guessing they may still be targeting Saskatoon, SK for their destination, but I won't rule out a training camp at home for all you hopefuls!
***I'll be hosting a live chat Wednesday at noon ET. Swing by for all your pre-draft questions!
