The Islanders' improvement on the ice this season -- and presumably combined with the fact this is their final season at Nassau Coliseum -- has inspired a big spike in merchandise sales at

According to the influential online retailer, Islanders merchandise sales at are up more than 100 percent for the season compared with last year. That's the highest rise of any team in the NHL.

Just this month, Islanders sales are up 120 percent compared to last year.

New York-area hockey fever is evident in sales related to individuals. No. 1 in the NHL this week is the Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist. No. 3 is the Islanders' John Tavares. (The Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews is second.)
