Scott Gordon decided to keep the Isles who played in last night's 7-1 debacle off the ice today, choosing to meet with a few players and show some video clips. Jeff Tambellini, Tim Jackman, Doug Weight and Martin Biron were on the ice at IceWorks while the rest of the team tried to erase the memory of the no-show performance.
Gordon called the home-and-home with the Rangers "a mini-playoff series," and hoped his team would respond to the higher intensity for the rivalry game at the Garden tomorrow.
"Maybe the heightened emotion will add a little fuel to the fire and right the ship a little quicker," Andy Sutton said. "We'd rather get a game like (Monday's) out of our system all at once and beat the Rangers twice."
Gordon said he hadn't decided on a goaltender rotation, but it would seem Biron would get the start at the Garden and Dwayne Roloson would go Thursday and Saturday at home. Gordon said he thought about making a lineup change last night the same way he considers any lineup change; I'd asked specifically about Andrew MacDonald for Bruno Gervais, but Gordon's answer translates to: I'll make changes, but I ain't telling you folks.
