Isles lead Ducks 3-0 after first period
Beginning with P.A. Parenteau's power-play marker, the Islanders score a trio of goals to take a comfortable lead heading into the first intermission.
John Tavares laced a beautiful pass to connect with Parenteau, who beat Ducks goaltender Curtis McElhinney at 15:06. The Islanders tacked on two more within the next 1:39--with Blake Comeau's goal from the slot and Matt Moulson's backhander at 16:45.
Parenteau made a nice play with the stick to poke the puck away from Saku Koivu and right to Moulson for his team-leading 11th goal of the season.
After surrendering that one, McElhinney gets the hook and starter Jonas Hiller replaces him in net.
Milan Jurcina and Radek Martinek return for the Isles as they take on the Ducks tonight at Nassau Coliseum. The former has been out since October 29, when he suffered a hamstring injury that has shelved him for more than six weeks.
Martinek returns to the lineup after missing two games with an injury to his left arm, sustained in the team's 5-2 loss to Boston when he took a shot from Zdeno Chara but returned the next period.
Rick DiPietro starts in goal for Islanders.
