John Tavares has been officially added to Team Canada's roster for this year's World Championships.
Tavares told Newsday on Sunday that he had been asked to play in the tournament again--he scored seven goals in seven games for Canada last year--and would love to participate.
GM Garth Snow expressed some reluctance to let him go because of injury concerns--Tavares broke his foot during last year's World Championships--but ultimately gave the 20-year-old center the green light.
When asked if last year's injury made him hesitant to go back, Tavares said it did not.
"If you're going there worried about getting injured, then you are probably not going for the right reasons," he said after the team's break-up day.
The tournament, held in Slovakia, begins April 29 in Slovakia.
