Islanders forward Jon Sim, who was placed on waivers Monday, did not report to the team's minor league affiliate in Bridgeport once he cleared waivers on Tuesday. He has been subsequently suspended and placed on unconditional waivers.
If Sim clears unconditional waivers tomorrow afternoon, he will no longer be property of the New York Islanders. It appears the Islanders do not intend to pay Sim for the remainder of the season due to his breach of contract.
The 33-year-old pest, who signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Islanders this offseason, has been placed on waivers four separate times this season. Each time he has cleared, he has reported to Bridgeport. He has 7 goals and 2 assists in 8 games for the Sound Tigers.
