He didn't seem as confident today as he did two days ago that a deal would get done. Bailey again skated with his teammates at IceWorks, a day after participating in the team's charity golf outing, but he's still without a contract and the hours are ticking away until 7 a.m. on Friday, when players report for physicals and off-ice testing.
That's the deadline for Bailey to have a contract. If not, he's not going to be an Islander for 2011-12.
"I'm probably not as confident because it's taken so long," Bailey said, "but I still have confidence it'll get done. It's not like we've taken steps backwards or anything like that."
GM Garth Snow demurred when asked about Bailey after John Tavares' press conference, but he indicated he would be speaking with Pat Morris, Bailey's agent, Thursday afternoon.
