Injured forward Kyle Okposo will not join the Islanders on their 11-day road trip that begins Thursday, a lengthy jaunt that features stops in Detroit, Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado, and Chicago.
Okposo, who suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder during an intrasquad scrimmage this September, began skating with full gear earlier this month but has yet to practice with the team.
The 22-year-old alternate captain skated back home in Minnesota over the holidays and, unsurprisingly, had his return travel interrupted by the nasty blizzard that rocked the area Sunday. He will work with Islanders skills coach Bernie Cassell while the team is away.
Also, don't be surprised if the Islanders bring along an extra forward and an extra defenseman for their Western Conference trek...
