The accolades continue to roll in for 23-year-old winger Michael Grabner. Most recently, he was named the NHL's rookie of the month.
Grabner, claimed by the Islanders off waivers from Florida in October, led all rookies in scoring for the month of February with 10 goals and 6 assists.
Grabner is tied with San Jose's Logan Couture with 25 goals on the season.
"It's a nice honor. There's a lot of good talent in the league," Grabner said. "Hopefully I can have that same success this month."
Nearly impossible to sustain his red-hot pace from mid-February (10 goals 3 assists in 6 games), Grabner has cooled off recently. Scoreless in the past seven games, he hopes he can re-establish that scoring touch and get back on a roll.
"The last [seven] games I haven't scored, but I've had two or three quality chances a game. Hopefully, they start going in."
