Montoya in vs Caps, Streit skates

- Al Montoya is in goal tonight against the Caps, shut out last night at home against the Rangers.

-Per Caps beat writer Katie Carrera, Semyon Varlamov in net for Washington. Mike Green will not play after getting hit in the head by Derek Stepan last night. Green would not have played after last night's injury regardless, but he's also en route to his grandmother's funeral in Calgary, AB.

-Injured defenseman Mark Streit practiced with the team this morning. Streit was cleared for non-contact practice after his doctor's appointment last Wednesday. Coach Jack Capuano said he's still not close enough to returning for a definitive timetable.

Streit said he wants to play in some games this season, but won't jeopardize his health if he's not 100% ready to return. The next milestone for Streit will be once he's cleared for contact. He hopes that happens within the next 2-3 weeks.

-For anyone wondering, Mark Katic was able to get in touch with his Dad after his NHL debut. Despite his father's two week shift in the diamond mines in northern Ontario, the two talked after the game. Poppa Katic was able to watch Mark's first Islanders game online.
