Backup goaltender Nate Lawson will start tonight against the Caps, his first appearance since a 6-3 loss against Boston February 17. Al Montoya replaced Lawson during the second period after Lawson gave up five goals.
Islander coach Jack Capuano hopes Lawson can bounce back against the Caps tonight. Montoya has started the last five straight and with back-to-back games--the Islanders play the Wild tomorrow at Nassau Coliseum--Capuano felt this a good time to work him in.
Justin DiBenedetto will make his NHL debut tonight. He'll play on a line with Blake Comeau and Josh Bailey. Matt Martin will also flip-flop on that line, Capuano said.
Apropos of the Islanders league-leading man-games lost tally of 444, Capuano is also nursing an injury today--a bad case of lace bite on his right ankle.
