Al Montoya was examined Thursday night for a possible head/neck injury, and there was no word on his condition Friday as the Islanders prepared to fly to Vancouver. He was scheduled to travel with the team as of early Friday afternoon.

Montoya made 47 saves in the 4-3 overtime loss to the Avalanche in Denver and was run into three times by Avalanche players. The last, by Daniel Winnik  in the closing minutes of regulation, left Montoya down on the ice for a few minutes to be checked out by trainer Garrett Timms.

Montoya wasn't available to the media after the game as he was being examined by a doctor. A concussion had not been ruled out as of Thursday night.

Montoya took a high-sticking penalty out of frustration in OT, clipping David Jones, who tipped in the winner on the ensuing power play as the Isles blew a 3-0 lead.
