Well not quite yet, but the Quebec media has arrived, giving French-Canadians Bruno Gervais and P.A. Parenteau the lion's share of attention after the Islanders morning skate(Interesting side note: Manitoba-born Travis Hamonic is a native French speaker as well).
Later this afternoon, the Quebec-based group named "Nordiques Nation" will descend upon the Coliseum in droves (1,100 expected) for tonight's game against the Atlanta Thrashers to show their support for landing a team in Quebec.
Newsday's Laura Albanese wrote a story advancing the event here and also spoke to some guys about the team's punchless power-play, now tied for the franchise-worst record of 12 straight games without a power-play goal.
Defenseman Radek Martinek, who went down after taking Zdeno Chara's shot to the left forearm/wrist Thursday, skated this morning after a day off to rest yesterday.
Martinek told me he's still pretty sore and Capuano said he's questionable for tonight.
If Martinek sits, Bruno Gervais will play for the first time since suffering a fractured right cheekbone in a fight with Devils defenseman Colin White November 26.
Milan Jurcina (hamstring) skated with the team this morning; he will not be available for tonight's game but he is getting close, according to Capuano.
Several players from the team are now sporting some serious mohawks...I'm partial to Michael Grabner's. P.A Parenteau and Matt Moulson's lengthy locks remain intact, fyi.
