Off day then back to work for Isles

The Islanders have today off after last night 4-3 loss to the Panthers, a game that featured John Tavares' first NHL hat trick.

Amidst a brutal road schedule--12 of 15 on the road--the Islanders will enjoy some much-needed time at home before leafing for Montreal on Tuesday (game Wednesday).

This should give the Islanders some time to sharpen up and work on some things that may have been neglected in a busy past two weeks.

In the next few days, the Islanders will also have plenty of time to mull the looming deadline on rookie Nino Niederreiter. The team has one more game--vs. Montreal on Wed--before they must decide whether to keep him or send him back to juniors.
