The U.S. Men's Olympic team was just announced following the Winter Classic and Kyle Okposo was not on the 23-man roster.

I have to admit, I really thought Kyle would make the team. As he said last week, his points weren't where he'd like them, but Okposo truly is the embodiment of a true team player.

Tough, hard-working, and honest, Okposo has emerged as one of the leaders of this Islanders squad at only 21 years of age and has contributed in countless ways for his team.

I'm sure he's disappointed as are his coaches and teammates, who were all pulling for him to land a coveted spot on this year's squad.

Here is the complete roster:

David Backes, Dustin Brown, Ryan Callahan, Chris Drury, Patrick Kane, Ryan Kesler, Phil Kessel, Jamie Langenbrunner, Ryan Malone, Zach Parise, Joe Paveleski, Bobby Ryan, Paul Statsny

Defensemen:

Erik Johnson, Jack Johnson, Mike Komisarek, Paul Martin, Brooks Orpik, Brian Rafalski, Ryan Suter
