Defenseman Radek Martinek has signed a one-year deal worth $2.2 million with the Columbus Blue Jackets, his agent confirmed.
The 34-year-old veteran spent the last nine seasons with the Islanders before becoming an unrestricted free agent July 1.
Martinek will join another former Islander on the Blue Jackets' blue line: James Wisniewski signed a 6-year deal worth $33 million with Columbus last Friday.
Former Islanders Zenon Konopka and goaltender Nathan Lawson also landed with new teams during free agency this week. Both signed one-year deals with Canadian teams; Konopka with Ottawa and Lawson with Montreal.
