Rakhshani talks potential debut

After receiving a 3:00 a.m phone call from Bridgeport head coach Pat Bingham early Sunday morning informing him he'd likely be called up, Rhett Rakhshani had some trouble getting back to sleep.

"I was a little restless night, waiting to hear" he said.

The news was made official yesterday afternoon, a couple of hours before Bridgeport's game against Worcester (Rakhshani and defenseman Dylan Reese were both scratched for the Sound Tigers 4-3 shootout loss to the Sharks). However, because of weather difficulties--the Nashville area was hit with snow and rare below-freezing temperatures Sunday--Rakhshani and Reese couldn't join the team as swiftly as they had hoped. Their 6:30 flight from Boston to Nashville (connecting in Atlanta) was canceled, delaying their arrival until 1 p.m. today.

"Everything went smoothly this morning. We had a quick flight to Nashville and here I am," the 22-year-old winger said. Fortunately, Rakhshani's parents Steve and Joan were able to make the trip from Huntington Beach, CA without any complications. They'll be on hand at Bridgestone Arena tonight should their son start in place of Matt Moulson (left knee).

"I'm excited about the potential of it. I want to just go out there and enjoy it all have fun and suck it all in."
