Rick DiPietro will start in goal for the Islanders in the team's regular season home opener against Dallas tomorrow night.
Because of the injuries that have hampered him in recent years, DiPietro will make his first opening night start since October 5, 2007 against the Sabres in Buffalo.
The 29-year-old netminder made two starts this preseason; his most recent was a 2-1 win over the Devils in which he made 25 saves for the teams first preseason victory.
Dwayne Roloson will likely get the nod for Monday's matinee against the Rangers
Jets head coach Rex Ryan will drop the puck for tomorrow night's game at Nassau Coliseum.
"New York fans are a passionate group and I'm excited to be able to drop the puck on the Islanders' new season in front of what's sure to be another rowdy New York Crowd," Ryan said in a team release.
