Rick DiPietro will start against the Sabres tonight, his first game back since suffering a groin strain in last Monday's 5-2 win over Calgary.
DiPietro, who did not skate this morning, completed his second full day of practice with the team yesterday. That gave coach Jack Capuano a good indication he was ready.
"He probably could've went a game sooner, but again it was a situation where we didn't want to rush him," Capuano said.
"It's great. It's always no fun when you're injured and you have to watch from the stands," DiPietro said. "I'm just happy to be back."
DiPietro will provide some experience at the position, which was filled with two rookies--Kevin Poulin and Nathan Lawson-- in his absence.
"Not that the other guys played bad--the last game our team didn't respond at the drop of the puck--but to have a guy like Rick back there will give our team some confidence," Capuano said.
