Travis Hamonic leaves WJHC game after being hit from behind

UPDATE***The Islanders announced Hamonic is out 6-8 weeks with a Grade 3 AC joint tear in his left shoulder.

UPDATE***McKenzie is now reporting that Hamonic has a separated shoulder and is out for the rest of the tournament.

UPDATE*** According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, Hamonic's upper-body injury is shoulder-related and he'll undergo an MRI

With a 6-1 win over Switzerland, Team Canada advances to the gold medal game once again.

Unfortunately, it seems as if Islanders prospect,  defenseman Travis Hamonic suffered an injury toward the end of the game.

With about a minute left, Hamonic was hit from behind by Jeffrey Fuglister. No word yet the severity of the injury or whether Hamonic is expected to miss much time.

Tough break for the Islanders Canadian prospects so far this tournament. Fellow blueliner Calvin de Haan missed two games after a hit from behind by Swiss forward Mauro Jorg earlier this week.
