NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey Devils have re-signed leading scorer and Long Island native Kyle Palmieri to a five-year, $23.25 million contract.

General manager Ray Shero announced the deal with the 25-year-old restricted free agent on Thursday. The contract has an average annual value of $4.65 million.

Palmieri, who was born in Smithtown, had 30 goals and 27 assists in 82 games in his first season with the Devils. In six seasons, he has 73 goals and 73 points in 280 games with the Anaheim Ducks and the Devils.

Palmieri is the latest in a series of moves for New Jersey. The Devils signed Sergey Kalinin on Wednesday and Jacob Josefson and Luke Gazdic on Tuesday. They also recently signed Ben Lovejoy and Vernon Fiddler, and re-signed Jon Merrill, Beau Bennett and Devante Smith-Pelley.
