If you're a fan, there's still a lot happening. The World Championships, with several Rangers on Team USA, Marian Gaborik on Slovakia, the NHL playoffs, planning for the draft (I've got a couple players in mind for the Rangers), prospects due to be signed, free agency, RFAs, etc. So bring your lunch and questions and join me here on Tuesday, tres de Mayo, for all things hockey and maybe a little music.
Dropped in to see Brooklyn-born Garland Jeffreys and his outstanding quintet, the Coney Island Playboys, at The Turning Point on Friday night for their vibrant warmup for the Highline Ballroom show. Good tunes from his new album and some of his 70s stuff. The encores? A solo acoustic "New York Skyline" and then, with the band, "96 Tears".
