Apologies, Blue Notes devotees.
My aging laptop expired at at most inopportune moment last night---like the Rangers, in the first period.
Thanks to Newsday's Arthur Staple and PointBlank/Fanhouse's Chris Botta, I scrambled and managed to file a game story and some quotes from their working laptops for the newspaper, but not online. I will have another laptop today and be hanging at the morning skate in Uniondale at 11:30.
By now you've seen the profanity-laced answers that Tortorella, who needs to cut through the weeds in this embarrassingly overgrown Garden of Sleep (not Dreams) today, by benching or waiving either Wade Redden or Michal Roszival or Ales Kotalik to send a message and clear roster space before this tugboat sinks.
Inserting Bobby Sanguinetti into the lineup may help the capped-out, yet close-to-last-place-in-the East Rangers. Maybe Matt Gilroy needs to be summoned. Maybe Mark Messier needs to dress. Maybe that Dany Heatley trade, in hindsight, should have been made.
It may however, be foolhardy tonight to jam rookie goaltender Chad Johnson into this pile. He's blameless, why put him behind this underachieving (except for Gaborik and Lundvist) bunch?
The coach talks about accountability. Now It's on him---and General Manager Glen Sather--- before the season slides into oblivion and the chants at the Garden are silenced only by the empty seats.
