So for now, there are seven D, including Michael Sauer and Steve Eminger. McDonagh, who left Wisconsin to turn pro, and Valentenko, had very good camps, but don't have to clear waivers. Sauer, Eminger would. Have to assume both will be back this season.
Both McDonagh and Valentenko are lefties, five righties out of seven. Again, have to believe a move is coming.
There are now 25 players in camp. Drury and Prospal injured, leaving 14 healthy forwards. seven D and 2 G. With Ruslan Fedotenko, who likely will be signed, Rangers will be under cap, but will need bonus cushion. Of course, when Drury and Prospal return, there will be reassignments/waivers.
McDonagh was steady, and seems to me he is very close to NHL ready. Valentenko enjoyed hitting people, but needs to be more careful on the penalty front. Sauer, of course, needs to stay healthy. He's had major hip, knee and shoulder injuries in his career.
Mats Zuccarello and Dale Weise, who were called up to play last night in Ottawa, were returned to the A.
