Extra: Post-game stats, notes, quotes

OK, we’re just going to fire off some numbers and quotes that didn’t make the paper and get out of this juke joint.

Get this stat: Against the Caps and Pens in consecutive games, the Rangers have put up two four-goal periods. Amazing. Two from Ansimov, one each from Gaborik, Dubinsky, Staal, Christensen, Frolov and Boyle.

Frolov had a goal and assist and was named first star. Boyle had a goal and assist and was second.

Penguins had scored two PP goals against Flyers on Tiesday. Rangers PK held them 0-for-3.

Matt Cooke’s trip started the ball rolling at 9:30 of the third. Couldn’t have been called on a nicer guy.

Rangers have a power play goal in 10 of 13...

Marc Staal, with his eighth assist, has nine points in 11 games

Tortorella: “I’m not going to pretend, that’s a big loss to us in Callahan. I felt it right away as a coach on the bench as far as the situations we use him in. We’ll do it the right way. They’ve handled these situations and they had experience (losing Gaborik, Drury, Prospal, Rozsival) and we’ll get through this.”

Dan Bylsma on Malkin’s disallowed goal that would’ve tied the score at 2: “I wasn’t satisfied with the answer. The ref thought our guy without any help went into the crease and interfered with the goalie before the shot came.”

Different views: In the third, Bylsma said “ We got away from managing the puck.” Brian Boyle: “We had the puck more. We got the first forechecker in and then the second guy.”
