The afternoon recap:

Marian Gaborik asked out of practice today with a sore groin that has been bothering him for a couple of days, Rangers coach John Tortorella said. But he does not consider it a long-term issue. Rangers next game after tomorrow is Monday the 27th against the Islanders at MSG.

Michaal Del Zotto will miss the Lightning game due to the stomach flu.

Mats Zuccarello, the diminutive, creative wing who has been productive in Hartford, will likely be on the first or second line tomorrow in his Rangers debut.  We'll see him at the AM skate tomorrow.

Vinny Prospal (knee), who practiced, said he is no closer to returning than the recent estimate by Tortorella of mid-January.

And neither is Derek Boogaard, who has continuing headaches and will visit a neurologist.

Thanks to Newsday's James Crepea, who is subbing for me today at practice. He'll have a more complete story up soon. I'll be back behind the wheel tomorrow.

More later...
