Green Notes: Kreider, Whale open camp

Just back from Greenburgh a while ago.

Story on Chris Kreider in Newsday and on later tonight and tomorrow...Kid has the right attitude about AHL.

Some thoughts on the Whale scrimmage: Dylan McIlrath (knee) did not practice; he was working out off-ice….G Cam Talbot (leg) also is sidelined...Some jerseys had a patch advertising The Hartford insurance company….The Green-White scrimmage ended 1-1. Sam Klassen tied the score on a penalty shot, beating Jason Missiaen high. Kris Newbury beat Scott Stajan earlier on a p-shot....Shootout went five rounds. J.T. Miller was stopped by Bryan Hince. Kreider fanned on a shot on Kyle Rank; Newbury was robbed on a Hince glove save; Christian Thomas whiffed on a backhander; Chad Kolarik, in first scrimmage since being injured in the last camp, scored five-hole on Hince; Marek Hrivik went stickside on Rank to tie it; Ryan Bourque's spinorama failed; Brandon Segal's backhander on Rank made it 2-1; Yogan missed the net. .

Whale used main dressing room. Outside on the racks were sticks of Brian Boyle, Carl Hagelin, Jeff Halpern, Brad Richards, Taylor Pyatt, Anton Stralman, Derek Stepan and Henrik Lundqvist...More laterMore
