Rangers did not have a morning skate Tuesday; just a meeting.
Expect same lineup, and with Henrik Lundqvist in goal, as he told us Monday after practice. Friendly reminder: 7:30 start.
OK, let’s do the math. No. 9 Winnipeg has 51 points, with two games remaining, and faces Washington. The seventh-place Rangers have 52, with three left. Two points for the Rangers and a regulation loss by Winnipeg would seal it.
The Rangers would have 54 points, with two games left; the Jets only 51, with one game remaining.
A Capitals regulation win also would give them the Southeast Division championship and third place in the East.
Couple other games tonight that will affect positioning in the East:
Islanders (53, and tied with Rangers in regulation/overtime wins with 20) in Carolina, where I’ll be heading on Wednesday; Rangers play in Raleigh Thursday.
Canadiens (59 points) in Newark; Bruins (59) in Philadelphia. Bs have a game in hand on Montreal.
For the Rangers, Tuesday night marks the second time in six days that they will face the No. 30 Panthers, who have lost six straight. Remember the 6-1 win at MSG last Thursday? Rangers broke it open in the third…
