Live from Raleigh: Lineup speculation

Greetings from the Research Triangle, although the only research I’m doing in the next few minutes is: Which is the fluffiest pillow in this Marriott for a quick power nap?

A very percussive flight to Raleigh; after all the piano is. . . a percussion instrument. All Bruce Hornsby, from Valley Road to Every Little Kiss to Jacob’s Ladder (live) to Gulf of Mexico Fishing Boat Blues…

Tonight’s game ends the 13th back-to-back set for the Rangers this season, and they are 10-2 in the previous dozen. Canes have split the two meetings at the Garden, but have three points in ‘em. Zuke’s OT goal gave the Blueshirts a win in the last game. Think Gaborik's benching has a second game carryover?

I’m expecting Cam Ward v. Henrik Lundqvist, but won’t know for sure until our audience with the Blueshirts coach at RBC around 5. Also want to catch up with Chad Kolarik, who I’m told made the flight last night, and Brodie Dupont, who was due here this morning.

Lineup speculation?

Avery-Anisimov-Gaborik
Wolski-Stepan-Zuccarello
Prust-Boyle-Drury
Dupont-Newbury-Kolarik/Weise (All-Whale?)

Staal-Girardi
Gilroy-Sauer
McDonagh-Eminger

Lundqvist
Biron

A close look reveals that the Rangers are missing six forwards who were on the opening night roster: Brandon Dubinsky, Ruslan Fedotenko, Ryan Callahan, Erik Christensen, Derek Boogaard and Alex Frolov as well as Vinny Prospal, the team’s second leading scorer last season, who has yet to play a game. Could be six or seven rookies dressing tonight: Stepan, Zuccarello, Dupont, Kolarik, Weise, Sauer, McDonagh.

Swing by later for more before, during, and after the game…
