Momentum or rust?

Probably the latter as NHL games resume, Rangers players said today after practice.

"Good break, but it's too long now," said Michal Rozsival.  "You want to play again."

Erik Christensen, who said he was "itchy" staying at home," said he doesn't believe any momentum will carry over from the final NHL games two weeks ago. Ottawa was red-hot and the Rangers had won three of four.

"It's a 20-game season, a fresh start," he said. "The guys who were in the Olympics probably stayed in shape. And we've been feeling better after practicing (since the 24th), but there's no substitute for playing games."

Michael Del Zotto, a day after having 50 stitches removed from the Malkin skate gash, practiced for the second consecutive day,  took some contact and said he felt good. He will take the morning skate tomorrow in Ottawa, but just in case, Corey Potter is here from Harttford....Del Zotto on teammates Chris Drury and Ryan Callahan: "They did a great job representing the Rangers"....Henrik Lundqvist shook off a shot to the mask from Aaron Voros...Marc Staal, naturally,  was happy to see his brother, Eric, win the gold. Said he was "setting the bar quite high."...Rangers flying to Ottawa this afternoon where they will meet Drury, Callahan, Marian Gaborik, Olli Jokinen and coach John Tortorella....
