We’re told not to expect an initial proposal from the union today at the NHL/NHLPA talks here in Manhattan. Union is awaiting financial figures from some teams to review. Donald Fehr is expected to speak to us between 2 and 3. We’re told “core economic issues” are being discussed. The sides are expected to meet again tomorrow and next week.

Among the owners/GMs in attendance:  Ted Leonsis, Craig Leopold, Brian Burke, Jim Rutherford, and Jeremy Jacobs. The sixth member of the negotiating committee, Murray Edwards, is not here today.

Eleven players are here: Greg Adams, Dan Cleary, BJ Crombeen, Matt Darche, Shawn Horcoff, Steve Montador, George Parros, Cory Schneider, Kevin Westgard, Ryan Whitney, Keith Yandle.

Will update later....
