Nine gone to Hartford as NYR trims roster to 30

The semi-surprise among the nine was forward Danny Kristo, obtained from Montreal in the Christian Thomas deal. The Count can skate, but needs some work defensively.  He could be back during the season.

The rest:

F: Andrew Yogan, Michael Kantor, Micheal Haley

D. Dylan McIlrath, Arron Johnson, Danny Syvret, Tommy Hughes,

G: Cam Talbot

So Martin Biron will back up Henrik Lundqvist on Thursday here in Vancouver, and presumably, Lundqvist will be behind Biron on Friday in Las Vegas against the Kings.

So where are the next decisions before Oct. 1?

Nine D remain: The Top 6, and Justin Falk, Stu Bickel and Conor Allen.  One issue is whether Allen should remain on the bench as a No. 7/8 or get substantial minutes in Hartford for awhile.  Falk has the experience to step in, and Bickel is awfully inconsistent.  Maybe AV will just go down to seven after the first five-game trip that ends in St. Louis.

Forwards:  Figure Nash, Richards, Brassard, Zuccarello, Pouliot, Moore, Dorsett, Kreider, Boyle and the rehabbing Callahan and Hagelin are keepers. I still believe Stepan will sign before opening night.

So the bubble guys are Asham, Fast, Hrivik, Lindberg, Miller, Pyatt, Powe, Mashinter.  AV said he prefers 13 forwards, so only three or four of the above stick initially, five if things change with a trade or waivers. We'll see: If Stepan is here, no immediate need for Lindberg and someone will have to be moved for space... Not sure I see Mashinter staying either..
