WASHINGTON---Another grey Saturday here. Did not get to the Iron and Wine set at the 9:30 Club last night, but NBD. Will be a long day no matter how Game 5 is decided. Late Amtrak back to Manhattan.
Both John Tortorella and Bruce Boudreau will be available for questions at around 1 p.m. at Verizon Center. Check back here and at twitter.com/stevezipay through the day and in the aftermath.
To me, this all hangs on the goalies and special teams, which is the easy call, but especially true in a low-scoring playoff series.
Rangers 1-for-18 on the PP, and when I asked Torts yesterday about using Chris Drury, the best faceoff guy on the team and with a history of clutch play when things are on the line, he seemed to indicate that was not an option. Then again, why tip his hand? IMO, mistake if he doesn't try it.
Lundqvist has a 2.08 goals-against average, a .922 save percentage and faced 53 shots in the excruciating 4-3 double overtime loss in Game 4. Capitals rookie Michal Neuvirth hasn't faced as many shots, but is sporting a 1.45 GAA and .942 save percentage.
There's at least one more story to be told, boys and girls...Will be in touch from the rink...
