Talk about worlds colliding. I'm at Rangers practice today, filling in for the indomitable Steve Zipay, to find out that Sean Avery is with teammate Ryan Callahan getting the therapy that removes and replaces platelets from a patient's blood in order to accelerate healing (in this case, it appears to be a knee). That comes courtesy of Avery's Twitter account.
Tiger Woods had that same therapy when he was recovering from knee surgery before his 2009 golf season. I think it's safe to say that Avery and Callahan are not being treated by the same doctor who performed the procedure on Woods: Anthony Galea, who is under investigation about allegations involving performance enhancing drugs (he's the one Alex Rodriguez is going to testify about at some point. Small world)
