On to Edmonton: Stats and Jokinen on Horak

Hanging at Calgary airport for flight to Edmonton....Rangers did not skate today, so there's no way of knowing whether Wojtek Wolski---who took warmups last night---is deemed ready to play. Same for Michael Sauer, who I believe will not play until Monday at the earliest. Rangers will have a morning skate at 11:30 a.m. our time here out West...

Just for reference purposes, the wins in Van City and Caltown is the first time the team has won in those two locales in the same season since 1986-87. Combined scores? 7-2.

Just to close the books on the whole Calgary vs Tim Erixon issue, which to me is a dead one, the defenseman said after the game that he indeed did here the boos everytime he touched the puck, and it didn't faze him. He's a Ranger and the nuts and bolts of his decision not to sign in Calgary isn't a New York story.Olli Jokinen told me that Roman Horak, whose locker is nearby, is a "smart player with very good hockey sense"  who beat out vets for a spot on the roster. "He's been surprising," said Jokinen, who recalled playing against his dad on the Czech team in the World Championships. Flames could use some youngsters. I think the deal, including the two picks, might even out for them.

Rangers whipped Oilers 8-2 at home last season. Marty Biron played that game and Marian Gaborik had a hat trick. I'm not sure that Biron starts at Rexall Place tomorrow. Henrik Lundqvist is 1-0-2 lieftime vs Edmonton...Including the playoffs, Lundqvist has started each of the last 36 ganes....Corey Potter, by the way, is on the Oilers roster

The latest special teams stats: Rangers are 10th in the NHL on PK at 87.5 percent and 1 for 18 on the PP.

Name from the past....Team says that Brad Richards' five-game scoring streak is the longest by a new Ranger to begin the season since Gaborik tied the franchise record set by Dave Creighton in 1955-56 by registering a point in eight consecutive games to begin the 2009-10 season.

Reports from Hartford today indicate that Sean Avery (shoulder) has been cleared for contact, but won't play tonight

More later as it happens....
