Before making my escape into the Long island night, some odds and sods:
Tortorella: "I guess that's just what happens in this building." He said he yanked Biron, who was 5-2 coming into the night, because "Marty wasn’t dead on, even on some saves. Maybe in another game I'd let him fight through it, and I probably will, but not tonight. The team looked lethargic. It's not all on Marty...I was just trying to change momentum."
In the second period, the Islanders, down 2-1, "came out hard," he said, and scored two straight goals before Brandon Prust's second of the year tied it on a deflection off Andy McDonald's arm. "We were late to pucks. We were fortunate to win when you go through so many momentum swings."
Goalie coach Benoit Allaire, when I said "10 goals first time here, 11 tonight, will there be 12 next time?" Allaire: "I'm not coming back here."
Rangers have 10 wins on the roads and just five at MSG....The PP has a goal in five of the last seven games....Marc Staal (with an assist on Prust's goal) has four in the last five games...Prust, who may have injured his left arm/shoulder again, has four points in the last seven...Stepan played right point on the PP and looked comfortable there....In the end, Rangers won 49 percent of faceoffs, rebounding in the latter half of the game...Alex Frolov played 8:09 without a shot...
Lundqvist, who relived for the first time this season, stopped just 9 of 11 shots...Rick DiPietro stopped 20 of 26....Isles outshot Rangers 32-26....Ryan Callahan scored his eighth and second in four games....
