Post-Game extra: Quotes, stats after NYR comeback

Chris Kreider, who opened the scoring at 12:30 of the first:  “This was a character win, just like that Detroit game (a 3-2 win in OT), these are the kinds of games you need to find a way to win.”

AV on Benoit Pouliot, whose goal at 6:18 of third was the winner and whose second effort led to Derick Brassard's OT winner in Detroit: "He's been a difference maker in the last couple games."

Pouliot: "Everyone in here came ready to play, and it showed right off the bat."

Ryan McDonagh, whose point blast that Mats Zuccarello called “a (bleeping) bomb” tied the score at 2, discussed the defense while wearing the Broadway Hat: "We're just being a little bit patient in our zone. Not running at guys, holding the middle, keeping it to the outside, being smart through the neutral zone, not turning it over that much."

Carl Hagelin, who played 17:15 in his first game after off-season surgery, set up Pouliot for the winner: "I didn't have to look up, I knew he was there, because he dropped the pass. I can't say we have chemistry; I only skated with him once, he's a big body with a good shot. I knew he was going to be there somewhere and I was able to find him."

Cam Talbot, who is now 2-1 and has allowed just 6 goals in 3 games, on a similar comeback vs, Detroit (down 2-1 in third and a win): "To be able to battle back from those deficits, especially in the third period, when we haven’t been able to find the back of the net lately, that's going to give us confidence moving forward that we can score the big goal. And our power play (two goals for a second time in 11 games, other was vs. St. Louis) really stepped up for us and we're really going to need that moving forward."

Hard to figure, but with eight points (4-7), the Rangers are now three points out of a tie for second in the Metro Division… Derek Stepan had two assists for a team-leading seven….Richards, Zuccarello, Hagelin and Del Zotto had the others…In the scrum in the Rangers d-zone as the game ended, both Derek Dorsett and John Tavares received 10-minute misconducts; Tavares, who was held off the scoresheet, also got two for roughing, as did Brad Richards and Cal Clutterbuck…Ex-Sabre Thomas Vanek had one shot in 19:49… Dom Moore, who left after the first period with just 4:23 of ice time and didn’t return, was listed with an upper-body injury. Asked how he felt when headed to the trainer’s room, said : “Good”…The Rangers won 60 percent of the faceoffs…
