Post-game Xtra for Thursday....

So much for the hoped-for rebound after the washout in Buffalo.

The Isles embarrassed the playoff-hopeful Rangers, and now the Blueshirts, who reamin three points ahead of the ninth-place Canes, face the Flyers on Sunday in Philly before a three-game, do or die homestand.

Only four players weren't minuses tonight in Uniondale: Prust, Stepan, Mcdonagh, Boyle. Dubinsky was a minus-3, with no shots. Mats Zuccarello, inserted for offense, was a minus-3 with no shots. The Islanders were credited with 21 takeaways and 31 hits. You want the corresponding stats for your Rangers? 8 and 18....

How's this one? 0 for 7 five on four, and 0-for-2 five on three. Ugly. Nothing went right.  122 minutes in penalties.Starting to get the picture?   Too bad there aren't any more games left between these boys this season. The bad blood is rising again.

Newsday's Katie Strang has more from the Isles side and Arthur Staple weighs in as well in the paper. I'll link to them in the morning. Rangers aren;t practicing, but I'll be here to have some more post-mortems and an update on Gaborik's status.

Can they shake these blues and climb out of the trough?

          Your thoughts?

          I'm getting some sleep....
