Good Morning

Post-practice, New Year's Eve in Tampa...

Rangers had a  45-minute practice with the lines outlined yesterday here and on Twitter.  Dubinsky-Stepan-Gaborik, Frolov-Anisimov-Zuccarello, Prust-Boyle-Feds, Avery-Drury-Weise.  Coach John Tortorella said he didn't believe Zuccarello and Gaborik were the right fit at the moment and that Dubinsky's game helped balance Stepan's playmaking and Gaborik's offense. He singled out Brian Boyle, Artem Anisimov and Dubinsky for their play against the Devils....

With seven D, Prospal filled in on rushes with Rozsival to form a fourth pair, but Tortorella did not say that Rozsival would be a healthy scratch tomorrow. He did say that his play "of late" has sagged, but that the veteran's improvement from when the coach arrived and his body of work earns him some extra consideration. Michael Del Zotto is healthy enough to play.  Coaches will huddle before deciding tomorrow.

                     In other nuggets:

Henrik Lundqvist will play tomorrow, with logical speculation that Martin Biron will go Sunday in Sunrise against the Panthers...All the players are now wearing gloves with the extra padding. Equipment czar said some players switched the game after Ryan Callahan's hand was broken...Tortorella would love to be involved in an outdoor game in New York...On Boyle, who he was ready to ship to Hartford before training camp: "Now he has to assume the responsibility of what he's become as a player. And he has."... Zuccarello watched video for pointers on his play in the defensive zone....In retrospect, Tortorella said he should have used Todd White in the 11th round of the shootout in the last Tampa game at MSG before Marc Staal. "He told me on the bench that he was three for eight," Tortorella said....
