Darroll Powe, Stu Bickel and Brandon Mashinter have all cleared waivers and will be assigned to AHL Hartford.

The three were among the seven cuts made on Sunday.

Head coach Alain Vigneault said that "selfishly", he hoped Powe would clear, because he might be of use during the season.

If Bickel, a physical, right-handed d-man, plays well in the AHL, he might also be added down the road if, as Vigneault said, he could have an ideal lineup of 13 forwards and eight defensemen, which is not the case at the moment due to injuries and salary-cap logistics.

Powe's cap hit under the new CBA will be $142,000.

All told, once Carl Haglin is placed on LTIR, the Rangers should be about $1.3 million under the $64.3 million cap with 23 players and Ryan Callahan on IR.
