Rangers drop opener to Coyotes (ugly) 4-1

Not one to remember, not one that signals doom for the Blueshirts either.

Can't leap to judgement without full roster.  A healthy Callahan and Hagelin would've helped.

Still, the Rangers were sloppy, not getting enough of a forecheck to really force Mike Smith to work (24 shots) and Radim Vrbata's hat trick was deadly.

The good moments:

A power play goal from Marc Staal off a nice feed from Nash, who later fought Martin Hanzal after he levelled Derek Stepan along the boards. Richards had five shots.
