Rangers-Leafs on tap tonight

Went way back into archives for the morning soundtrack: John Mayall's "The Blues Alone", on a gun-metal gray day in the New York area, with icicles dripping from gutters and the winter grinding away.

The Blues, er, Blueshirts won't be alone tonight at the Garden with the Leafs in town and an animated crowd, I'd expect, with only one more home game, next Tuesday, before the All Star break.  Your Rangers, losers of three of four, could hop over Montreal back into sixth place in the East with two points tonight and then fly to Carolina for the first game of the season in Raleigh tomorrow night. (Note to self: Time to print that boarding pass!)

Leafs are 5-4-1 in last 10 and 9-11-1 away from Taranna. I'll swing by the optional skate later this morning and troll for some news, post here and as usual, at

Programming note: I'll be a guest on Hockey Night in Canada radio with Jeff Marek today at 3:40....
